Abstract

|
Smoking is one of the risk factors which can provoke various systemic and local diseases. This review is about the previous research results on the relationship between smoking and general or oral health, which can be divided into the
clinico-epidemiological, bacteriological, immunologica, and molecular biological aspects. Underlying mechanisms related to occurrence of oral disease and healing process are also described. In additon, various factors which must be considered for
further studies are suggested.
